Raven Trails

Raven Trails are just a few miles from Woodruff Wisconsin. Take Hwy 47 South to Woodruff Rd, then look for the Raven Trails lot. Like many other Wisconsin trails systems, Raven Trails was first a X-country ski trail, but the Lambo Riders (the mtb club), doing the dirty work, have constructed some very cool singletrack that is not only technical but very pictureque as well.

In the southeast corner of the parking lot, the adventure begins. An unmarked trail leads you into some tight singletrack wrapping around trees and over some off camber berms. Speed is really not an option, however balance and braking is. The singletrack crosses the marked ski trails a few times before ending. Be careful, there is a possibility that you will end up in someone's campsite, however they could have beer--not a bad wrong turn. If you don't end up in a campsite then follow the single track down to Clear Lake. Take a left, away from the campground, and you'll find some of the coolest singletrack in the area. The trail follows the lake shore for a few miles with many areas to overlook the lake--take a minute and enjoy--it's beautiful. It's not only scenic, but it's fun too, fast little rollers with log piles and all the other necessary acutriments for enjoyable ride.

Sticking close to the lake, you'll find an assortment of single track mixed between the ski trails. These trails are not marked, so if you're in the mood for a little adventure, ride on. There is a nice segment of trail that LAMBo and IMBA built together that's worth a look see. Not huge, but there's nice little rock section that can test your technical skills.

There are trails on the north end of the area that we found. Some are dead ends and some are cool little bits of trail. The dead ends can be frustrating if you don't have bug spray.

The Lambo Riders are putting a lot of work into the trail system, which is very apparent. Check out the trials area--teeter-tooters, bridges and big rocks. It's amazing (from the ground!!). Not my thing, but the locals make it look easy. Overall, the Raven trails system is a great ride if you're looking to explore. The flow isn't fantastic, which is attributed to the lack of signage marking the singletrack. The LAMBO riders are working on getting signage, but in the mean time, it's always a good idea to hook up with a local to show you around.
