Bigger is Better.

Is it just me or am I seeing the sport of mountain biking getting bigger? Yes it's huge.

I've been riding for about ten years. When I started, there were a handful of locals that got together on wednesday nights and let'er rip. Now, pull into almost any trail system parking lot and you will see 10-15 cars on a weekday, weekends--even better. Over the weekend, a group of us got together, set up camp and rode Levis Mounds near Black River Falls. All the prime camping spots were taken and the lot was full of cars carrying people from Green Bay, Wausau, Point, Milwaukee, Chicago and all points in between. First, it's great to see Levis getting the attention it deserves. Second, it's even better seeing the sport of mountain biking growing the way it is.

There is a vibe out there, an excitement brewing around this sport that is getting more intense every year. Let's hear it for the trail builders, working hard giving us a place to ride. Let's hear it for the first-time riders who are willing to shed some blood, get up and do it all over again. Let's hear it for the sport veteran's who have been singing the praises of mountain biking for years. Let's hear it for the sport. Keep on riding.
